The staff has close links with industry, and its research is well supported by grants and contracts from both government and the private sector. Many of its technological breakthroughs form the basis of independent companies with University shareholding or joint venture agreements with industry both in Australia and overseas.

Project ManagementProfessor Vernon Ireland has been Director of Project Management and Industry Programs for the University of Adelaide's ECIC since 2003. Project Management programs currently have over 200 students enrolled and over the past two years over one hundred students have successfully graduated.
Professor Ireland's expertise is project management and the processes which organisations employ to ensure corporate goals are achieved through projects. With a PhD in Project Management, Professor Ireland is also a Past-President of the Sydney Division of the Engineers Australia.
The Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC)
The ECIC is a centre for excellence, where imagination, creativity and knowledge produce innovative outcomes.
The ECIC’s mission is to foster innovation through entrepreneurship, commercialisation and project management research, teaching and community and industry engagement activities.
The ECIC is all about helping individuals make a difference – to create wealth in the form of economic growth and social advancement for companies and communities.
